Care Guide

HAIR CARE GUIDE

Taking proper care of your wig or hair extensions will keep them looking beautiful, silky and full of life for much longer. Follow these simple steps to get the most out of your Chrisbukem Hairline hair.

WASHING YOUR WIG

How often: Wash your wig every 7 to 10 wears or when you notice product buildup.

What you need: A sulphate-free shampoo and a moisturising conditioner.

Step 1 — Detangle the hair gently from ends to roots using a wide-tooth comb before washing.
Step 2 — Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water. Never use hot water as this can damage the hair.
Step 3 — Add a small amount of sulphate-free shampoo and gently swirl the wig in the water. Do not rub or scrub.
Step 4 — Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all shampoo is removed.
Step 5 — Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends. Leave for 3 to 5 minutes then rinse well.

DRYING YOUR WIG

Step 1 — Gently squeeze out excess water with a soft towel. Never wring or twist the hair.
Step 2 — Place the wig on a wig stand to air dry naturally.
Step 3 — If you need to blow dry use a low heat setting and a heat protectant spray.
Step 4 — Do not go to sleep with a wet wig.

HEAT STYLING

Our wigs are made from 100% human hair and can be straightened, curled or waved with heat tools.

✦ Always apply a heat protectant spray before using any heat tool
✦ Use a maximum temperature of 180°C (356°F)
✦ Avoid applying heat to the lace or the roots repeatedly as this can cause damage over time
✦ Allow the hair to cool completely before combing or brushing

DETANGLING

✦ Always detangle from the ends first, working your way up to the roots
✦ Use a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush — never a fine-tooth comb
✦ Detangle when the hair is slightly damp for easier results
✦ Be gentle — never pull or force through knots

STORING YOUR WIG

✦ Store your wig on a wig stand or in a silk bag to maintain its shape
✦ Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources when not in use
✦ Never store a wet or damp wig as this can cause odour and damage
✦ Store wigs separately to prevent tangling

LACE CARE

✦ Clean the lace gently with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol to remove any glue residue
✦ Avoid getting the lace excessively wet during washing
✦ Do not pull or stretch the lace as it can tear

GENERAL TIPS

✦ Wear a silk or satin wig cap underneath to protect both your natural hair and the wig
✦ Avoid sleeping in your wig where possible — this causes unnecessary friction and tangling
✦ Use a satin pillowcase if you do sleep in your wig
✦ Avoid chlorine and saltwater — always protect your wig when swimming
✦ Deep condition your wig once a month to keep it soft and hydrated
